Exactly as per the plan, I dumped work and took advantage of the
terrific weather for a day ride through the mountains.

There is a permanent smile pasted on my face and a little sunburn.

I won't waste a bunch of bandwidth on a lengthy narrative (mostly
because Tim's and RGD's prose puts mine to shame) but if you want a
sense of how it went here are a few pictures.

    Enjoy

Bill, the link is safe, no viruses, no hidden script, nothing there to
harm you or your computer. Just a few pictures of God's country. Take
a look, you might enjoy them.

  3. Been on it a few times and that's a real nice route to ride, Don.

I'll be taking off early tomorrow morning in the general direction of
the Drayton Valley area (where we'll eventually end up, who knows?).

    Later...

I did part of that route last summer. I went north out of Lake Louise on the
Icefield Pkwy and took a left at Hinton on 40 through Grand Cache to Grand
    Prairie.
Nice broad sweepers and scenery that's hard to beat.

That route is on my list. Maybe ride from here to Saskatchewan
Crossing, spend the day there and then ride to Jasper.

So many roads and so little time.

Yeah the backrest is great. On long rides with the Virago I would use
my duffle bag bungied to the passenger seat as a backrest. That worked
    fine too.

If you have the proper riding gear and the wind protection of the
Venture you don't even feel the cold. As a matter of fact sometimes it
is more comfortable riding in cold weather, with the proper gear, than
riding in stifling hot temperatures. I can take measures to stay warm
but short of installing a cab and air conditioning there is little I
can do to cool off other than ride faster. And that can get expensive
    after a while.
I was too tired to write a lot of stuff. I may expand on it later.

There are other links in my signature to a couple of the rides I took
last season. Walker/Calgary and Calgary/Browning were fun rides. If
you like the mountain pictures you can see more in the Banff and
Kananaskis links. Check them out if you are interested.

I think RGD still has a link to his Alaska ride in his sig. If you
want to see what real cold weather riding is like take a look at that
    one.

Last year a bunch of us participated in the NART gig. Many of us
posted ride reports and pictures of the various meets around the
country. If you can find all of those links there are tons of pictures
of this motley crew out there.
