I was going to go out for a bimble today as it's lovely and warm but I
appear to have been the victim of hayfever or something equally
    horrid.

Every time I go outside I turn into a walking ball of snot.

I never used to get hayfever at all, I've always lived in the cun'ree
surrounded by forests, fields, flowers and grasses but starting from
two years ago I developed hayfever. Going out in the car is bad
enough with all the sniffles, snot, headaches and watering eyes so I
dread to think that would happen if I had a ride a bike through it
without some kind of gas mask eir filter.

Bloody immune system overreactions. GO AWAY.

You sounded worse than me and I'd got through many, many fags before
    you'd turned up.
I just had a butchers at NHSDirect and it states that March-May has
the most grass pollen in the air and hayfever 'peaks' in the mid 20's
(Happy 25th Birthday to me on 2nd May) and then goes down after that.
I found a packet of something I got at Boots last year "Boots Hayfever
& Allergy Relief All Day Tablets 10mg" which states "Active
Ingredient: (each tablet contains) Loratadine 10mg"

I had one an hour ago but don't feel any better and don't expect to
for a few days. Hooray for air-conditioned offices.

I saw flowering gorse recently. Very pleasant. However I don't suffer
    from hay fever.

It normally goes away after a few weeks. If it happened often then
I'd ask Mr. Doctor if he could do some more specific allergy tests so
that I could be better prepared.

BGN was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
    Sounds like hay fever alright.
Take it from someone who would suffer from hayfever if he existed -
trying to protect yourself from it makes it worse.

I've been suffering from hay fever since I was about ten and it got
pretty bad at one point. I noticed that it was getting better after I
bought a convertible (this was in pre-biking days) and I was going
everywhere with the roof down. It does take a while but you can
    desensitise yourself that way.

As to the bike, if it gets rather bad get yourself an open-face helmet
    and ignore the runny nose.

  6. The crunchy cheeks will take a bit of getting used to though (!)

Sympathies. For me the remedies which attack the specific symptoms work
best. I'm usually fine after dosing up on nasal spray and eye drops
with the occasional top up of drops if it's a particularly bad day.

  8. you have my sympathy.
Oddly enough, despite being quite a bad sufferer, I don't suffer whilst
on the bike. Although the few hours after I've been riding in the season
    are always, umm, interesting.

You know, I reckon you're only pretending to be gay because someone once
bought you "1001 Fag Puns" volumes I to LXIX.
