What a difference

    a damper makes[1].

Went out for a shortish bimble along some of the bumpiest roads I know
around here and the bike felt completely untroubled.

Normally there'd be a little flap on and off along most of it if you're
on the power. It's something about the 10R that I almost like - it
feels exciting, but there's the nagging thought that you're but a step
away from a full on tankslapper.

The damper, set to 1 (out of 8), kept it in check. The was the odd kick
here and there, but it never got into a flap. I'm pretty chuffed as I
don't like the way some dampers make the steering feel heavy, but even
though it was a new toy I forgot about it when I was moving.

It went on quite easily, with little fuss, head scratching or swearing.
All in all, if it hadn't taken 6 weeks to get it'd be spot on.

That is one ugly piece of kit ;-)

Reminds me I wanted a replacement ohlins one for my GSXR, but not convinced
it will make that much difference. I find the steering a bit slow at town
speeds but I'm not sure if that's the damper or not.

I put an Ohlins on my TLR because the stock one was a bit on the heavy
side and the steering felt a bit dead, particularly in the wet. It
does make a slight difference on slow corners at very low speed, but
hasn't affected the rather heavy lifeless feel at any other speed.

The trade-off is an occasional flap from the bars on bumpy roads if I
don't bother to readjust it. I find the odd *slight* twitch adds to
the fun. Having said that, I have had a couple of unexpected bigger
flaps of the bars which were a little too exciting. It's odd, really.
    The bike feels pretty solid right up to the point where the bars flap;
there's not a lot of warning.

There are standard style dampers which are progressive. Matris for
    instance.
