What 125?

  1. Yes, of course. How could I possibly draw a visual similarity between
the two bikes if I'd never seen one of them?

If you're going to draw a similar visual between the 125 and a Harley,
you'd have picked a Harley that has exposed rear shocks and a cropped
rear fender, like the Dyna Wide Glide. The FatBoy looks nothing like
the Chinese bike. You're way off!

  4. Well I beg to differ. If you're down to picking holes such as the
positioning and type of the rear shock(s) and the shape of the mudguard,
then I would say that pretty much proves my point. If I'd said the bikes
looked identical then your points would be valid, but I merely said that
it "looks remarkably like a Harley Fat Boy if you squint hard enough".

The Aquila is not a Chinese bike by the way.

    Welcome to Reeky Pendant.

Yes Hyosung is South Korean and the V-twin engines were designed in
    Japan.

I was checking out a current eurospec Suzuki 125 road bike and it makes
20% less power than the balls to the wall Hyosung Aquilas 15hp.

Owning a larger -sized- bike but small cc /restricted for license
graduation reasons ( UK ) or even outright commuting or riding isnt
    that silly.

I guess they can get up to what 75-80 flat knacker ?

Are the V twin 125's just sleeved down 250's ?

If not I wonder if the 34hp 250 motor would fit in the Aquila chassis.

You could blow away the worlds last running GPz305 with that setup.

Get some straight pipes on that biatch [1] and some tassels on your bar
ends and you are ready for a cruise to the juicer in style.

On fenders and such I disagree, my conclusion is the differing HD
fenders are a large part of the various models styling differences.

[1] Clearly a fantasy , the 'new and improved' UK does not allow
anything louder than a frog farting to emanate from motorcycles.

  6. Hehe, thanks. I know those slanty-eyed types all look the same to us
caucasians, but calling Hyosung Chinese is a bit like saying HD is
    Mexican.
Well, I've had an indicated 75mph out of mine on a flat road, but what
little sense of mechanical sympathy I've got told me I probably wasn't
doing the engine any favours at all.
I'm pretty sure the 250cc engine is exactly the same size and would just
go straight in, although I wouldn't dream of doing that. It'd be easier
just to sell the 125 when I'm done with it, and get a bigger bike (I
think it might be difficult to sell a 250 in the UK - at least there's a
big-ish market for 125's over here as trainers).
There will be no tassles on my bike. Ever. Apart from anything else,
when you've only got 15hp to play with you really don't want to be
dragging extra flappy bits through the breeze. Tassles are best kept for
    lap-dancers IMHO.
Well, to be honest I agree with you. I still think the many styling
similarities between the two bikes outweigh the differences by some
margin, but I guess not everyone sees it like that.
There's a big difference between what is allowed and what actually
happens, at least that's how I understand the situation (I am a relative
newbie and my bike won't need an MOT for a couple more years anyway).

Not to be overly pedantic but geneticly speaking
they are...also if you want to surprise people
remind them that every Japanese (except for the
Ainu ethnic group) ARE Koreans that sailed there
    several thousand years ago. 8^)

I've seen the Hyosungs IN Korea. There is a vague
large cruiser look to them yes...in the same way
you can look at a Pomeranian and see the Bull
    Mastiff in it.
