Might have changed then. I though it was a pain to ride through. I did
find a nice pub and B&B above some Texas ranch theme bar and stake
grill, but the people where a bit strange. It's called Stab City in
Eire, although I wasn't on the end of any violence I did see a fair
bit of it. There's not really a lot to see in the town but around it
there's a few places that are well worth a look. IMO

I lived in Galway for two years.

When in Mayo tell them that you didn't like Galway.
When in Galway tell them that you didn't like Mayo.

Get to as many pubs as you can and just enjoy the atmosphere. In Galway
visit Cooks Thatched Bar, Peter Cook was the world champion cocktail maker.
I wonder is he's still alive.

Stop off in as many villages as you can and just enjoy yourself. Gort is a
must as is Ennis and Dirty Nelly's.

    I think I'll go myself.

That's the long method. The usual way is to paint some white lines on a dirt
track and put up a few road signs.

    Check again ..
Considering it's peak time it's 99 quid return for the bike, me and my
daughter not too bad a price.

  13. And then the buggers have the nerve to ask if you want your drive
    tarmac'd.

My last venture into that part of the world was in an old Rangie, which in
my estimation has to be the most nearly perfect conveyance for that sort of
    mission.

  20. I found it a bit of a conumdrum when I first came here. Some of the
finest roads in Europe were built with Irish expertise and labour, while
the roads in Ireland were shit.
A historical lack of gov't spending on infrastructure and the best
roadmakers were forced abroad for economic reasons.
