Bloke gets an independent tester to prove that his ShiteOldFiat could
not have been doing the 115MPH that the janitors claimed it was. I
wonder if the janitor in question will be sent for retraining on the use
of speed measurement gear? Would anyone else done by him have grounds
    for appeal?

Bloke still got done for "without due care and attention" mind, but he
    avoided a ban.

The (almost) full story is here [1], it appears he got done 'for udue
care and attention' because he had the tenacity (ok, that bit wasn't in
    the report) to 'undertake' vehicles.

    Hmm.

  3. Seems like a Pyrrhic victory me, being as he had to sell the car and drop
out of Uni. Mind you, I would question the judgment of anyone choosing a
Fiat, especially a Punto. Cheap, nasty, loathsome things - the lowest form
    of mechanical life, almost.

I used a review from Bike or Superbike (it was a long time ago) to
negotiate "in excess of 127mph" down to 95mph in the magistrates
court. The review said that a Pantah would only do 105, and I had
a load of camping stuff on the back. They didn't know about the big
carbs, valves and exhaust or the Omega pistons and Montjuich cams. :)
