Well, that's me not on TV then.

Location: The Waterman, just outside Warwick
    Time: 6PM(ish)

A BBC Reporter wanders over to Mr Buckley and I, with cameraman in tow
and starts up with something along the lines of:

"Excuse me, Yesterday there was a bike accident at an unauthorised
'biker's rally' bearing in mind that this lead to multiple injuries and
a fatality do you think that unauthorised bike rallies such as this one
    should be allowed?"

Well, I've heard some crap in my time but that took the cake.

"Excuse me? Firstly I'd like to question the assumption that this is a
bike rally, authorised or not. This is a pub, and pretty much everyone
in this car park has already been inside and bought a drink.. a lot of
the people here, like us two are just dropping in on the way home after
work to have a quiet chat and a drink with other bikers. What makes us
    any different to regular customers?"

<Camera pans to the floor, BBC presenter goes quiet, whilst she thinks.>

"Well the person that died yesterday wasn't a biker, they were just
standing by the road watching, and the bike flew into the crowd.
    Someone died."

    Unbiassed reporting, my arse.

Still, on a more positive note, she did have nice tits.

They won't show that, not sound-bite-ish enough. You should've just
said yes, then you could've been famous. Could've spawned a host of
personal appearances and led to a nymphomaniac supermodel falling head
over heels and seeking you out.

    You'll never know now.

    Hence the topic.

    [nympho supermodel]
    Somehow I don't think I'd find a supermodel "my type". :)

Your interview may not have been on, but you riding into the Waterman
carpark was shown right at the beginning of the segment on tonight's
    late local news.

It's ok, they speeded up the film and added a clip of a crash at the
end to make you look like more of a Menace to Society.

That's not the point, not by a long chalk.

I had a clear objection to the anti bike propoganda they were there
creating, but oh no, that's all edited out for the sake of their story,
or rather they stop filming the second someone disagrees with them, even
    if it's done politely....

And then they use me in the introduction FFS.

It's done nothing to improve my view of journalists.

Didn't they show him taking his helmet off?

Probably you were the only thing going slow enough for the cameraman to
    focus on.
Bang off a letter to the DG then.

We don't really have one yet, just a deputy filling in. Got a new
    chairman, though.

Don't they have to get you to sign a consent form before they can show
you on TV - as well as give a warning to viewers of a nervous
    disposition:)

Seriously though - if you can be recognised from the clip and you didn't
consent to it being shown then why not stir things up with an official
    complaint?

    No.

There are consensual issues with kids and cameras in these modern times
    though.

You sure it's jusyt kids? *Anyone* who is photographed by NottsCC[1] whose
pic *may* be shown to others at a later date is asked to fill in a
declaration that they're happy for this to happen under European human
rights laws and rights to privacy and stuff....

[1] Caveat: This is a recent thing and I've yet to come across exceptions
(if there are any) from this.

    I think this is bollox.

The BBC can go outside and film traffic driving past, and broadcast
the film. They don't need the consent of every driver. If they did,
imagine the problems they'd have covering a picket line or a
    demonstration, for instance.

I very much doubt they realised that you (the person they interviewed)
was one the anonymous bikers they filmed riding into the car park.

Oh I agree, I'm not actually bothered it was me on TV. What I don't
like is that they were there (IMHO) to try and make bikers look bad
without presenting a balanced view, and for no other reason... I'd have
rather seen an empty car park that night, and them sat there with no
    story.

It was interesting to see how they tried to manipulate what was in
effect a quiet pub meet, one where I can't ever recall there being any
trouble, into something akin to football hooliganism on wheels.
