    That's the closest you can get by road, iirc. Windy Ridge viewpoint.

    All of the "soil" in front of the Wing, used to be part of the
    mountain. It's about 6-7 miles from the crater.
    It was the highlight of the whole trip for me.

    Have you had a play with that Nasa Worldwind software? Mt. St. Helens
    shows up really well in it. You can zoom right into the crater & see
    the lava dome. Mt. Fuji looks pretty cool too.
