Unlikely. They'll leave all the hillbillies, trailer trash, inbreds,
mutants, survivalists etc behind to fend for themselves. It'll be like a
continent-wide low-budget Mad Max ripoff, everyone wearing spikes and
bondage gear and riding around on two-stroke trail bikes with apehangers...

So much for that plan then.

Are those the special two-strokes for films that sound like V8s?

Nasty, although it does seem pointless worrying about it, there's very
little we can do with somethign on this scale - other than perhaps
increase the probability of it happening sooner.

After all, we have a 100,000 year window here!

    I couldn't give a shit, so I sure as Hell ain't worrying about it - I
wanted to see the program because I'm interested in volcanoes

  11. One of my "Things to do" is to see a volcano erupting.
Close up but not too close if you see what I mean.

Absolutely - although I'd prefer one that wasn't likely to suddenly spew
a pyroclastic flow in my direction, as that would really ruin the whole
    day

Indeed it would. But then that is the whole problem with volcanos isn't
    it :)

Ah, but a rift volcano would still be something worth seeing and they
don't produce pyroclastic flows. And then there's Hawaii, too.
Relatively speaking, they're quite safe as well

Mount St. Helens a few years after the eruption was worth seeing.
They've probably cleaned it up a bit by now.

As I recall, the scientists were surprised that the forest had
recovered so well after just 10 years when they were originally saying
    50.
