I, and several others, told him, right from the start, that buying one
of these really cheap rip-off Chinese bikes was not a good idea.

We told him *why* it wasn't a good idea.

He said he was going to go ahead and buy it anyway.

Now he pops up again and admits he's made an error and asks for more
advice, which he's also almost certainly going to ignore, because he
knows all about cars.

And he throws his rattle with gratifying frequency and velocity.

What do you think we should do?

Although I am not cos I am going to have another cuppa and a smoke and

How about getting the facts right for a start? Some people advised him

small. If he had bought the one he intended it to buy at least it wouldn't
have been too small. So he took the (uninformed) advice he was given and is

As for the rattle-throwing - not surprisingly he probably finds it difficult
to understand why he is being subjected to such vitriolic abuse over

No, its not a lot to ask - and I think he has been trying to get it right.
It is the malicious pleasure in OTT attacks and the search for any pretext
to have a go at him that is the issue. Sometimes it looks like some people
want this to be a "local group" for "local people". I have no problem with
people like sir tony and that twat Ken who was posting in
uk.rec.motorcycle.classic being given all the abuse that they deserve.
However, I think people should try to distinguish betweeen those who clearly
go out of their way to annoy and those who simply make a mistake or two.

I think perhaps the refusal to fix the sig pissed a few people off.

A lot of newbies wander in here and make a few stupid posts before
reading the ffaq (myself included), and then pretty soon get the message
of what is expected. The feeding frenzy usually starts if the unsubtle
hints from a few of the regulars are repeatedly ignored.

As a relative newbie, I've had no trouble in this place (yet), even
though I'm an upside-down head who chooses a cruiser over a
crotch-rocket and therefore automatically a '****' in the eyes of some
of the fuckwits on here.

Personally, I like this newsgroup just the way it is, cunts and all.
Yesterday I visited a couple of the groups I used to frequent a few
years ago (soc.culture.british & uk.politics.misc, always good places
for those looking for a good flame war), and couldn't believe what I
found - complete shite. UKRM is always entertaining, and occasionally
even informative.

Just my tuppence worth, of course.

The facts are right. I told him not to buy a Chinese bike from a bloke
who has no established dealer network, no decent parts back-up, etc etc
etc unless he was prepared to write off the money and didn't care if it
went pop in a year.

OK, so it wasn't *this* bike, but the same applies.
