I'm booked in to do my L's training course thingy on the 16th and 17th of
    October !!!

Wish me luck, this has been a life long dream. Dodgy wrists and ankles are
    not going to stop me.

Now I just need to get a lightweight low seated bike !!!

    Cheers

    Good luck!
You'll learn to get around the wrists and ankles and there's a world of
bikes out there and one with your name on it.

Onya Charmayne; even trolls need to live a little!
Good luck with the bike. Don't get all hung up on
biggest/fastest/most-powerful available. You can have huuuuge fun on a 100
(or fewer)cc bike and there's a lot to be said for riding a bike that
    doesn't scare you.

"So far Howard's luck has survived a great deal: his move to dismiss
broken election pledges by distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
promises; his retrospectively time-limited "never ever" pledge on the
goods and services tax; his vagueness about when he committed Australia
to war against Iraq; his shifting standards for ministerial conduct; his
demonising of asylum seekers as child killers; his tendency to blame
"advice" rather than to openly accept responsibility when things go wrong."
Will Howard's luck survive another election ? Do Australians not care
that their PM is a liar ?

Yes, Jen and I both have Malvern Star mountain bikes here. A long way from
my old dragster in the 70s!

    Good oh!

Take a bottle of water with you, and sunscreen. Listen to the
instructor, even if what they say sounds odd. If you don't get it,
don't be shy about saying you need help.
    They don't stop me!

Much of it is practice, everything's awkward to start with. Ride lots
    to get the practice.
They'll probably have GN Suzukis at the course. There are a fair few of
those about, ditto Yam viragos. The low seat and high bars will help a
    lot.

Ask the instructor to show you the method of pushing the bike around by
having it lean on your hip and you push with your legs. THey may show
it as a matter of course, but if they don't, ask.

After you hve your full licence, you can always get a Guzzi! The new
Nevada is a bloody nice bike, but alas not LAM legal.

Depending on where you are riding the bikes my wife learnt to ride on would
suit you she started on a Honda XL 250 Degree and the got a Kawasaki ZZ-R
    250. Both are wonderfully easy to ride, light and have the lowest seat
    heights available.

    I dunno, my 1988 GPX250 with 133,000km-old seat padding and a
worn-out rear shock is pretty low to the ground! ;-)

OK I fixed the tyre and the fork seals and it only cost $2000 so that's
$2500 all up (I won't charge you for labour 'cause you're a mate).

only bid $800 on that CBR600 that Glitch was touting the other day...

I don't know the qoute either but did you see John Safran vs God this week?
I loved it where he cycled around Salt Lake City, Utah, knocking on doors
and trying to get people to convert to Atheism.
"How about a reading from the good book: Charles Darwin's theory of
    evolution?"
"Did you know that when you die your body decomposes and returns to the
    elements?"

One of the people hit him with a broom!
