I watched the first half and buggered off out. Still it's only

Was this vs Milan? If so, jolly well done. I was watching it this
    afternoon.

But (pardon the pun) if the boot had been on the other foot & they lost
because of the goalie getting up to those jiggling tricks, the Liverpool
supporters & English commentators would have been up in arms!

Fuckin` `Ell. I`m only just getting my breath and my voice back. I`ve also
fucked the springs in my fave comfy chair from bouncing up and down on it
when the Liverpool goals went in.

They`ve been dancing in the streets in my little part of Liverpool. At least
something has cheered the miserable buggers up for a while..

Shite first half, I thought we were in for a drilling!

Good turnaround in the 2nd half, and we got the cup to keep that we
should have had 20 years ago [1]

Outside now are people singing, fireworks going off and horns blowing
incessently..I don't live anywhere near to the city centre and I doubt
the ones doing the celebrations realise exactly what they are
    celebrating. [2]

[1] No disrespect to the people that suffered in Heysel.

[2] Still kids in arms when Heysel happened, and probably don't really
have the same sense of *pride* that us oldies have, given tonights
    result.

Why do people do that "we" thing when talking about fooball? It's
something I've never understood. You don't hear any Englanders saying
"we had a good race" when Toseland/Button etc do well (or Webster &
Hewitt in case it's a plural thing), but if the English football team
do well it's always "we had a good match".

Is it just associating oneself with their glory, or do you call them
"we" when they get thrashed too?

Perhaps it is the assocation to a particular area rather than the
country that determines the 'we' statement, given tonights game.

Perhaps the 'we' thing stems from a game that quite obviously requires
other members to attain a 'score' or 'achievement' of some value,
whereas the singular (ie Button) means that a person is in the
spotlight and looking to win, and that the normal populace cannot see
behind Button to all the people that work damn hard to try and attain
    an achievement?

    Just a thought.

It's funny how many people have forgotten about the Italian that was
firing a gun at the Scouse end of the ground during that period, and
the Italian police chose to ignore it.

The Heysel thing was (once again) a cumulation of factors, and anyone
who lays the blame on one area in particular is an arsehole.

Would you like to step forward, SD?
