    Heh, my reaction, also.

So, Lesley, what prompted that outburst?

I know, it's cool. When my dad retired he still passed for someone in

I don't see why. I appear to be the only one in anyone's crosshairs at
    the moment.
Which is *still* a criticism of the test, not the testee.

The test is for The Institute of *Advanced* Motorcyclists, after all.

I still contend that someone, who by their own admission, was less
than gifted, can pass an IAM test on the back of three months of
tuition, of, as has been said, around 3 hours a week[1,2], then the
test proves nothing, and will do little more than instill a sense of
    misplaced confidence.

That is not to say that Donna hasn't anything to be proud of.

*Any* training will help, especially by a qualified, helpful, and
    understanding individual.

This, of course, assumes that Donna was as bad as she thought she was.
There must exist a real possibility that she wasn't.

[1] Even extending the parameters here, we can't be looking at more
    than 50 hours in total.
[2] It was September 30th, that Charders stated she'd done 5000 miles
in the last 13 months. I wouldn't expect that *anyone* could be
"advanced" with that kind of experience.

The rest of the thread was for general consumption and not angled in
your direction. Now get on with the washing up.
Lovely. Have you met Alan Gower? He can show you what man tits should

Except that Charders was "trained" by The Observinator, who appears to
be a bit of a cock.

Salad Dodger wibbled like a little girl...
I don't have anyone in the crosshairs. I was just expressing my
disappointment that someone who goes and makes a significant effort to
train themself to a better standard of riding should be derided for
    their achievments.
Of course it is, but had it been anyone but Donna, then the piss-taking
would have been a slightly more biased towards the IAM. As it was there
was, imo, a certain amount of piss-taking of Donna's riding skills.
I doubt that Donna could ever be accused of that. Her confidence has
    improved greatly though.
I'm glad you added that, as Martyn said, her riding has improved in
    spades.

  13. From me too. I don't really give a monkey's wotsit about how the IAM is
percieved, but the real result is your (Charders) increase in riding
confidence and ability and your continued presence on the road.

    Erm, well... yes actually.
Same here, stepped on the scales last week for the first time in months (at
    the request of SWMBO).
Seems I weigh the most I ever have done (13st 6)
    Perhaps I'll diet after Crimbo.

Well done Donna! I did IAM training for much the same reasons, just
could not be arsed to do the test. So well done for seeing it through
    as well.
