Had LASIK done a fortnight ago tomorrow at Optimax in Manchester. I have
to say I'm well chuffed. Eye test last Friday gave me a 6-4 rating which
Doc said was rather good. No problems with night sight or owt.

    For £850 it was a bargain.[1]

[1] Bloke at work gave me a 2 4 1 voucher, normal price is 850 per eye.

    -3.0 left eye
    -3.25 right eye
A bit of astigmatism on both.

I could have had Epi-Lasik which was cheaper but had longer recovery time.
They can treat quite high figures now. A friend at work was -8 and -9 and
    is now 0 and -0.25.

That sounds good to me. I'm -5.5 and -4 and seriously considering it.
Have you got any urls for background reading?

The Optimax website isn't bad. I have a booklet at home that explains in
even more detail. I can snailmail it to you if you like. I'm happy to
explain the process from a customers point of view either here or by
    email. Email addy is valid.

I had a look at that earlier, but I'd like to read some impartial
    stuff as well.
    Cool, emailed.

I had a brief vsion of a battery charger then...
I'd like to hear about the process, but don't think I'd ever get away
from the 'you mean you shine lasers into my eyes...' thing.

Or some fancy grade u/l petrol from Shell
Scary. And less safe for long sighted people apparently. A mate of mine
nearly lost the sight in his left eye after a twice bungled laser op.

    tallbloke says...
I'm longsighted, which is one of the reasons I wouldn't consider laser
    surgery.

Drop me a line or ask JJ for my phone number. I'm happy to chat through my
    experience.

Will do. I want to talk to you and JJ about laying a spiked trap for
the estranged husband. The site's not that big and how many 6 foot 3
blokes with silly goatees can there be? Looks like Champ [1] but not
    as grey.

[1] which explains a lot of the flak he gets from me.

I read that as Laying a spiked tramp, which created a *really* bizarre
image in my head, I can tell you.
