Welders?

Problem: The foot bar (don't know it's technical name, the bit you stick
your foot on to hold the stand down when pulling the bike onto it) on the
centre stand on my SR250 has cracked the weld where it attaches to the
stand. Makes it a right bugger now to pull it up on the stand. It is still
sttached by one weld but is loose.
I have rung a few garages and they have almost laughed at being asked to do
such a small job as all it needs is an inch of weld.

Has anyone a mig welder who could do it for me for a few beer tokens, within
sensible distance of Sudbury, Suffolk, say up to a couple of hours ride. My
    email address is valid.

nowhere near Suffolk, but for future reference, garages are the last
people to ask for jobs like this.
The best, IME, are commercial vehicle workshops, and private workshops
belonging to local hauliers, bus companies etc.
They also still occasionally respond to the question 'how much?', with
the phrase '**** off', which is nice.

  3. Nip into any welding shop and offer a pint.

Try asking Bonwick, he's a welder.

I'm in Chelmsford, Essex and have one. My email
is valid so drop me a line. Don't expect it this
weekend though as I'm a tad busy (a) getting pissed
    and (b) recovering.

I'm going to use your can of easy start as a flamethrower next time I
    see you.

Or any garage. Ringing 'em is pointless as it'll take them longer to work
out how much to charge for he job than it will for them to look at it, slap
it with the MIG and end you on your way.

And they'd be tight cunts if they charged you for it too.
