It looks like 'Wild Hogs' was closer to the truth than I suspected! :)

I applauded the 'individual' among you who parked 'not like the
others'......until I saw the next pic where he was toeing the line. :(

Cracked up at the thought of cleaning my bike 1/2 way through a ride.
Hope you had harley polishing cloths.

The old steam train looks great.....I like old restored things,
    especially things with fires!

Only a couple of weeks until school holidays and the boys go to their
mums for a week.......I see some time off coming up! I will get around
to taking my camera next time.

It's much worse than you suspect! Three of the guys are motor cops,
so you even have to mount and dismount per department standards.
However, I will say, they show an admirable (?) lack of respect for
the law when it comes to noise emission standards!

I thought that when they were off duty they would do all the 'rebel'
stuff, like deliberately getting off the 'wrong' side of the bike,
parking 'nose in' and riding a dirty bike!

Do they ride Harley's when on duty?

Our cops have such a bad reputation (for not getting 'off the job') that
even the good ones get left out in the cold when it comes to rides. I
suppose drinking, smoking, speeding bikes is not a place they can relax
    around. :)

I got it for $50 when a friend of mine who works at a local dealer saw
it taken in on trade. It was low mileage and perfect, and he knew I
was looking for a training bike to replace the 1978 CM185T TwinStar
that I had been using. The TwinStar was nice and light, but had a 6-
volt electrical system that was problematical in a bike that was
idling around in a parking lot a half-day at a time. I put a set of
Cheng Shin tires on the CM400E, taught about five people how to ride
using it, then got tired of spending my weekends in parking lots, and
sold it on eBay. I think I got somewhere around $550 or so for it!

The Foxfire Grille is my favorite restaurant anywhere ever. At least
you have good taste in food.

You should take the train ride up the mountain sometime. There's a
museum of vintage trains and tools at the top with guides that explain
what it was like to be a logger in the 1800s. Better to be a biker in
    the 21 century fo sho.

Sometimes they have hillbillies up there playing bluegrass and
    clogging about too.

You ever happen by the radio observatory out there? It's an
interesting way to spend a couple of hours.

Well, I hope it wasn't the delicious pulled pork sandwich I had there
on Thursday night that made me nauseous in the wee hours of Friday
morning! (Probably the excessive tequila and pale ale... more
    likely!)
Yes, I've ridden the train. It's a great trip, especially in the
    fall.
Yep. Green Bank National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Been there
three times. I find it fascinating. The technology is incredible.
Did you know that the current radio telescope there is the largest
    movable manmade object on earth?

It is also why cell phones don't work in or around Marlinton - the
radio silence zone surrounding Green Bank precludes the construction
of cell phone towers in that area.

Why, Beej, that's right unkind of you, my Texan friend. I believe
that numerous posters in tx.motorcycles in the past have opined as to
how they're happy to hear about ride reports from riders outside of
    the great state of Texas.

Just in case I was wrong and/or they weren't interested, I made sure
not to clutter tx.moto with my ride report, and instead simply posted
up a link that those who might be interested could follow if they
    chose to.

Shirley, I didn't mean to get your dander up. If you don't want to
read my ride report or the comments on it, by all means feel free to
killfile me and/or ignore my spurious and specious postings!

Say, Beej? Are you the High Sheriff around tx.moto parts these days?

You have sadly misunderstood the bent of Bjay..
Just to clarify your impression of the loosely organized tx.motorcycle
newsgroup.. Bjay has been accepted in the position of Ratings Monitor..
It is his responsibility to ascertain the quantity and quality of the posts
and responses to this group.. Excepting the increasingly noticeable
absences, due to family obligations.. (his wife is my first cousin, twice
removed) one of his many responsibilities in that capacity, is to make
the necessary comments and critiques of any post that demands his
    attention..

As you may not be aware.. I was annointed as Grand Exalted and
Illustrious High Sheriff and Monitor of this newsgroup, several years
ago and continue in that capacity.. Although that position is held with-
out question in two of the most prolific motorcycle newsgroups on
usenet, there has not been a serious challenge to me, in that cap-
    acity..

Therefore.. it is my judgement that your comments to Bjay in that re-
gard is highly controversial and out of line.. Even in the form of a
question.. there cannot be any toleration of such disrespect..

Thank you for your future support in this regard..

Nice shots, Tim. Great scenery in the East too. Thanks for sharing and
ignore the crap posts about X-posting to reeky. These real riding
shots are what "these MC groups" should be all about.

Well fer'crissake's .. Why ? With all due respect, I considered that I
was quite gentlemanly in my response to you.. Also.. that response was
meant to be quite helpful in explaining the pecking order structure of
tx.motorcycles newsgroup.. There was certainly no intention of any
threatening nature contained in my response..

None taken. I meant I was askeerded that something I might type to
Beej might be considered disrespectful or controversial or out of
line. Better not to post a-tall rather'n risk riling a really
    revered tx.moto personage!
