    Bike trade-in

As of Monday, owners of motorcycles and scooters with engines of up to
300 cubic centimeters that have been on the road for more than 10 years
will be able to trade in their bikes for a certificate offering them
exemption from classification tax and road tax when buying a new model.
The old bikes should be handed in to offices of the Public Property
Management Organization (ODDY). The tax breaks are part of new
legislation aiming to replace old and noisy bikes with more
    environmentally friendly models.

A _much_ more civilised attitude to bike riders! :)

Is that forever on that new bike when they own it, or only once?

I wonder how much it is compared to value of bike, presumably it's "if
you have a 10yo little shitbox that the guys in the pub will give you
a slab for, we'll give you $100 worth of exemption"?

I think that it's the first year's annual road tax, plus the tax on the
purchase (or most of it) of a new vehicle.
I can't tell you the exact figures, but I think it's a wee bit better
than what you outline, altho you do catch the spirit quite well with
    that analogy.

A few years ago now, the Greek governement did a similar deal for cars
and were successful in getting a "modernization" of the cars in the country.
