It is 68° here at the FW side of DFW. Isn't it nearly June?
Just looking around I see that 104°'s it predicted for Thursday out in
Arizona. If summer ain't coming here, we need to go to it.
Wednesday a.m., heading that way, Southern Az, Grand Canyon, up into Utah,
over to Colorado, down through New Mexico and back to Cowtown.
    Who's going?

I plan to go to Casa Grande AZ. That will probably be as far as I can
go IF my vacation time is approved. No word on the approval yet as its
a holiday. I hope to find out tommorow when all the big wigs are
    back.

The TV network weather reports are forecasting rain for the next several
    days
and it looks to me like we will be running west into some showers.. Could
    turn
into one of those wet/dry runs that will keep a guy changing socks real
    often..

I talked to our friend and riding buddy, Jerry.. this morning and he's all
    geared
up to make this run.. The meeting place will be in Van Horn, Wednesday even-
ing .. no time certain, at this point.. From Van Horn, we should make a nice
    run
through El Paso.. New Mexico and Arizona .. to be in Casa Grande, Arizona
sometime Thursday evening.. Depending of course, on the sightseeing and
lollygagging that everyone is inclined to do.. There is a tremendous amount
    of
things to "lollygag" over, out there in that country, if one is interested
    in the hist-
    ory of the Old West..

Not to mention.. the proximity of the Mexico border .. We'll be running
    parallel
to that border for much of the way from Van Horn.. Lots' of neat little
    border
towns from about Deming, NM .. all the way to Tucson, that are only a few
    min-
utes away from the route that we'll be riding..

The first range of "mountains" will be between Pecos, Tx and El Paso..
    although
they aren't comparable to the mountains in Arkansas, or deep into Mexico,
    they
are interesting to ride through.. After that, the ride is pretty flat and
    straight until
we get through New Mexico and into Arizona..

Buddy Helscel is anxiously getting ready for us to get there.. hmmm.. I
    think he's
anticipating looking over those new GoldWings.. He's ready for some "down
    home"
company that he can talk to.. After all.. it is common knowledge that most
    of the
Arizona "people" are from up north someplace and they don't really speak the
language of all us old Texans and Oklahoma folks..

Dodging the rain showers and staying dry should be the most pressing
    problems
that we encounter on this run.. Everyone seems to be taking pains to make
    sure
their ride is up to the trip.. Gonna be a sure nuff good one.. Regards

    I'm heading out....meet y'all in California?

I'd go with y'all, but I've got to be out there by the time y'all
leave on Wednesday....gimme a call when you guys get close by out
there and we'll hook up, if we can.

Now I'll be sitting back watching the weather closely to catch a
    "between the showers" opportunity....

Good thinking.. CPR and a Defibrillator might be the most important items
    that
we take on this trip.. lol

On another note.. as the Grand Wizardly Illustrious organizer of this pack
    of
misfits.. I'd be inclined to appoint a committee to influence the powers
    that be
over at the RedShad's place of work.. Seems those "powers" are dragging
their feet by the failure to approve his time off, in a timely fashion..
    This sit-
uation is intolerable and cannot be tolerated by any of us..

The components of that Special Operations Committee should be made up
from the most effective members who participate in this newsgroup.. hmmm
Strike that.. we should send the "Sheriff" to RedShad's place of work.. She
could surely intimidate that bunch to get in line and conform.. No doubt in
    my
    mind..

Otherwise.. it's a done deal and we're on our way .. rain or shine..
    Wednesday
morning.. See you in Van Horn, Jerry..
