yeah, I know - just pointless panicking.
*phew* - thank god for that.

Seems very overcast all the way, but no rain (and doesn't feel like
    there will be, either)

Borderline chilly, but nothing an extra layer didn't fix.

    Is it Avebury tonight?

That's the plan, aye. If it stays dry, I'll be heading that way around
5.30/6, so at Avebury about an hour/hour and a half later. At a guess.

But if it's just me, I won't bother.

As mentioned elsewhere, if it's not raining when I get home I'll be going.
    Likely to arrive circa 7:30.
Currently route undecided after I reach the A4 via the A338 from Wantage -
possibly A4, or possibly continuing on A338 as the A4 is, frankly, a bit
    dull.

Been trying to see if WIk's going as well but the best I've got so far is a
"possibly". Just chatted to him and it's still a possibly :))

I think Sweller was keen, though considering he has a map from 1984 or
something it's possible he'll be going the very scenic route.

Is the plan the Red Lion, or somewhere else?

This really has all the trademarks of a typical UKRM 'organised' event.

A mate of mine used to keep a map of the UK under the seat of his bike
for emergencies. I don't know when it was published, but it didn't
    have Milton Keynes on it.

I'm trying the Avon Azaro 49/50 which is in that area. Feels good so
far, and more than comparable to the set of outgoing 010s.

I've dug out his mobile number, so I'll try giving him a call in a bit
to see whether he's coming along and/or arrange a meeting place (if
    before Avebury)
The Red Lion. Or, if meeting beforehand, could make it the first petrol
station on the A4 after the A338/A4 junction, wherever that happens
to be, which should catch sweller and let me hop the M4 as far as
    Hungerford.
    :)

....and I just caught him as he was going into a tunnel. Hopefully he
wasn't driving and talking on the phone at the same time! He's going to
be pelting it across Wiltshire, so meeting at the pub.
    Plan B?

I've got D207RRs on the 9R. Hving used 010s and an 010/020 combo on the
6R. I like the Dunlops, but I'm in the Blaney camp when it comes to
    tyres.

Back in about '90-'91, I had a hack of an early version of Autoroute. It
    didn't have Slough...

I initially read that as "come-friendly". Aspherical projection of glop.

absolutely - I could definitely tell the difference between the 010s
and the following D207RRs on my 'blade, but only because the 010s were
    squared-off to ****.

Yes, and actually that's nearer (and quicker to get to) for me then Sarratt
ever was... only about 45 minutes.
Left at 9:02, was filling up at Didcot at 9:43.

Think I will be doing that again.
I had fun for the first bit of the ride with Wik and Ogden, until we got to
Wantage - and then for some reason it just all went wrong.
The bike just wouldn't hold a line and was moving all over the place - tip
in, it would tip further/try to straighten up - it really
felt like the tyres were flat (though I'd checked them before leaving) - by
the time we got to Avebury confidence was close to nil :(

Dunno if I'm rusty (definitely wasn't looking far enough ahead) and
therefore crap throttle control, different sitting position due to back, or
tight leathers causing unwitting bar inputs, but even on the A34 doing
100mph+ in a straight line on the way back it still felt highly unstable.
The tyres are _slightly_ squared off, but nothing at all major.

When I sat on it, I couldn't believe how wide they were :)
Indeed... and riding with a growing collection of insects smeared across the
visor combined with headlight glare doesn't help :)
