just had a call from a friend, she has been given a USB printer, but no USB
    ports on the puter, I think is a P1 200mmx!!!!! running win98

whats the quickest cheapest way out that will work in an older box
    USB PCI card
    parallel to USB adaptor
    other?

IIRC Win98SE is required for USB support. I maybe wrong though, it's been a
    few years.

95a doesn't have USB support, 95b onwards does.

  5. Yup - cheap and works. My ADSL modem is hooked to an old P133 with a
    PCI USB card. Works fine.
Is there such I thing? USB requires volts up it to power the device, I
doubt a parallel port would work.

Wow - one day Aido, Tel$tra might get with the times and install Linux ;)
BTW, does SP2 for WinXP suck as bad as it sounds? My Linux network hasn't
had a major service pack that cripples the IP stack (ever) so I'm a little
in the dark with all the "good stuff" from M$.

USB to LPT or Serial exists. they suck donkey balls however. More
    often than not won't work.

I've stopped stocking them at work due to issues.
