    Hmmm... I keep my toenails well-trimmed, but I always wear out the toes
    of socks before anything else.

    I use mine for cycling. Whilst they keep the wet out, they're not
    stunningly good in the cold. Best for winter cycling in a thin pair
    of socks and neoprene overshoes.

    but make sure you buy the waterproof goretex ones. the non waterproof
    leak like a sieve.
