Waterproof Boots

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by eamonn.debarra, May 7, 2009.

  1. What says the FOAK?
Tired of leaky items despite claims to the contrary.
Am considering things like Sidi Vertigo Goretex or TCX Competizione
    gore tex.
Are these actually waterproof and practicalish?
    Other reccomendations?

  7. I see. Having spent 180 sheets on gaerne ones that are lass waterproof
than some of my socks, have concerns re large wedges on tat, hence me
    post.
So apart from waterproofness, one would assume at that price that they
are orgasmic in all other facets? not too hot in suvvern europe in
    summer?

I paid £169 for a pair of Nonstops a couple of years ago, now £260. Seems
the exchange rate has hit the German boot market.

Some of them can be. I have 3 pairs of Daytona boots, bought over the last
11 years. The Highway GTX are too warm for UK summer use. The Nonstops are
okay, except in southern Europe in >30C. The Rainbow GTX[1] were excellent
in torrential rain and the heat of the Alpine summer last year.

I find them *totally* waterproof, supremely comfortable on and off the
bike in all weathers, and I look damned good in them.

They can also be refurbished by the factory for half the price of buying
    new.

I totally wore one pair out recently (but they *still* didn't leak). I
decided not to get them rebuilt but bought a new pair from GLF. I'll
probably send the old pair off for refettling at some point.

Seriously, they aren't cheap. But they are bloody good boots.

  14. Due i deduce from your substantial fleet of footwears, that the
Rainbow GTX is thus to cold for the joy that is an irish/enlish winter?

  15. At that price I'd make a determined fist of 'growing into em' or
    taking pliers to excess toes.....
If your bubble still has wind, I'm a 44 or 10.5 in old money
