But people shouldn't be allowed to buy washing machines until they know
how to mend them, and how to make detergent... and there should be a
    test!

Utter shite quality and even shitier back up.
Ended up binning it and buying separate Bosch fridge and freezer.

Got an indesit here which will only wash things on a gentle cycle at

This has to be done. We're blowing up another microwave this half
term, but a small scale treb shouldn't be that hard to cobble together

Gyp, what you doing with the old washing machine?

Eh? It's quite simple - two options:

Option 1. Buy new fitted fridge, remove old one, fit new one.
Option 2. Buy new free-standing fridge, rip out old, cut work
surfaces, cupboards & other fittings to size and push new fridge into
    place.

Which part of the above is it that's causing you a problem?

You need the special Fridge Extractor tool.
It looks like a ten foot pair of pliers.

A little C4 under it solves the problem and gives you a new skylight too.

So why ask for advice on how to do something you've no intention of
    actually doing?

    Sheesh, some people.

  9. No - you've got it all wrong.

You need to be able to design the washing machine, then manufacture all
the parts, assemble and disassemble it. Then you must know how to
install it and also be a qualified plumber. Oh and be a trained
maintenance person. They you need to complete the 10 week course on how
to wash clothes properly. Followed by a 4 week set of nationally
recognised exams which will then establish that you have "washing
machine competency level A". There will then be an annual retest to
make sure that you are still competent and you will be subject to audit
and inspection by the Health and Safety Executive.

And just to make sure you must submit a Washing Machine Safety Case for
approval by the Washing Machine Manufacturers Association.

I was dismantling it to ensure that the bits that are almost new and
might be useful to people could be reused and the remainder was going to
the big recycling factory in the sky.

Alternatively you can collect it, repair it and wash your
larges^h^h^h^h^hsmalls in it should you so desire.

    good plan
It could go via a trebuchet. I've got a plan for a simple one
somewhere and I've watched enough of those 'have fun with ancient
weapons' programmes to get the gist of what not to do. It will give
the kids something to do next week. We can use them for load testing..
It's nearly winter, I'm not sure it could cope with the fleece lined
    all in one.

If, as I suspect you are a teacher, (ok so the half term bit gave me a
    clue)
have a chat with your DandT dept for plans/logictics, usually Tech teachers
are as mad as fish and up for it

makin a trebuchet is a piece of cake
just make sure that either it is on wheels or that the weight/counterbalance
    swings freelyhttp://www.codesmiths.com/siege/build/ or
    http://www.fryerskits.demon.co.uk/treb/ and scale up

also if you are near Cearphilly get to the castle and have a look at a
    biggun
    cheers nick

Good grief no, teaching adult ed classes convinced me that if they
irritated me that much children would be far worse and getting a PGCE
    was a foolish idea.
Nah, this half term, this week coming. I'll be acting as ref for my
two. So all distractions welcome. The eldest was miffed he missed the
microwave destruction at MattG fest and another has just got borked in
the move so it would be rude not to test a few of Braniac's (I *hate*
that program but the kids love it) ideas out.
All teachers are as mad as fish IME.
    Not any more thankfully.

Nah, just get the Doris onto it. Women come prequalified on white goods.
And if she tries to get you to get involved, sling her silk blouses in with
one of your purple t-shirts on a boil wash.
