Excuse me if the question is very banal, but I’m not a UK native…
If I buy a used motorcycle from a dealer, am I entitled to a warranty
or not at all? I know this is the case in other European countries,
but I’m not sure if it’s the same in the U.K.

    Cheers!

So there is no specific law on this, right?
In Italy, for example, dealers are obliged to provide a 12-month
    warranty

  3. There is a law, yes. They must give a warranty unless the bike is
specifically sold as unroadworthy and for scrap.

On second hand bikes as well? I didn't know that...

I've seen a number of dealers offering 6 month warranty but AFAIK it's not
required by law (I bought a scooter without warranty from a dealer 8 years
ago and it worked fine for a lot).

    The Older Gentleman typed:
AIUI, unless the bike is sold as scrap/spares only, it must be "fit for
purpose", i.e. roadworthy and with a reasonable service life remaining on
consumable parts. What is 'reasonable' will be for negotiation between you
and the dealer, but I have heard a rule of thumb of between 3 and 6 months
(depending on value) before any replacement parts (brakes, battery etc)
    needed.

Which is generally a con. A bike must be fit for purpose (unless expressly
sold otherwise), regardless of where the dealer got it from.

But isn't that a sale between a trader and another trader? If a dealer sells
a bike to a member of the pubic, he must provide a warranty of some kind.
Usually the minimum he can get away with which is (IIRC) 3 months.
