  1. Absolutely. I did 47 states in 10 weeks last year.
I don't think it is, if you're prepared to pay full fare.

Hmm, when we went to the Knordkapp we took 2 weeks over it (with a couple
    of rest days).

And I spent a month in Europe last May, that was 6000 miles

    http://www.quikmaps.com/show/101469

And 3 months in the USA in 2007

    http://www.quikmaps.com/show/72718

    That was 15000 miles

So, I suppose you could manage all that

Except you'll have to go to Cornwall. And Wales.

In the US, there is a certificate for doing the "4 Corners Tour" - San
Ysidro, CA, Olympic Penn, WA, Madawaska, Me, & Key West, FL. To get
the certificate, you have to do it in 28 days. I met a guy who did it
forwards and back in the 28 days. That's insane. I didn't get the cert
because I wanted to have at least a _little_ bit of fun on the road,
instead of just riding every day. 12,000 miles in a month, but for
most of it I didn't experience much besides watching the scenery pass
    by.

Indeed, and looking at the route there is some top scenery to visit.
I'm gutted I missed Olympic National park, but will visit that some day.

I may get inot Maine this year, as we land on Sept 8th, and it would be
rude not to see some "New England" in the "fall"

You'll be fine... just make sure you stop in every McDonalds and complain
loudly about how inferior the burgers are compared to back home.

Of course. Pay a few bucks and you can do _anything_ in Mexico.

That's what a Mexican mate did to his CBR900 on Baja California plates:
taking it every six months to Andorra, 8 times during his PhD in Barcelona.

I spoke with a Mexican lady friend, who is most definitely _not_
"virgen" (she has a 10 year old daughter.) She'd be willing to help,
but in the end, I decided it wasn't worth the days and hours of hassle
to finagle the transfer down there. At the AAA, I wrote a big check
and was done in 15 minutes.

umm,er, ah...OK, we are now. This lady is one of the most beautiful
women I've ever met. Her eyes will just make you melt, and her smile
will make you blubber. Just a stunning beauty. Unfortunately, she is
also extremely religious and socially conservative. Damn mores.
