So, the rust and the mank got to the small heat shield on the K75
exhaust, and it fell off. I clearly couldn't be bothered about replacing
    it.

Had a late night last night and did about 50 miles at around 90-100mph.

About 10 miles from home I could smell something burning; assumed it was
    another vehicle...

About 2 miles from home I felt for both panniers with my feet (I do this
on a regular basis) and the right hand one felt funny... then didn't
feel at all. It fell off.

Stopped and went back to collect it. Bloody thing is smoldering and has
holes in it; big ones at the bottom- and also at the top. It must have
been a right inferno. Explains why people were flashing lights at me
    more than normal.

I wonder if he has problems with traffic lights that don't turn green.

Heh. I can't imagine it happening to anyone else, to be honest.

Top performer. I recommend Arthur Brown to anyone who gets a chance to
catch one of his infrequent shows.
The bloke has an amazing voice, and when he sings proper stuff he can
    match Scott Walker.

Funny that ain't it. Though I can remember reading an article in some
bike rag about a very similar thing happening to someone on the way back
    from a Belgian booze cruise.

    You're kidding, right?

We saw him doing vocals for Hawkwind; it was dreadful.

Arthur Brown as in "The crazy world of"?

We saw him a couple of years ago in Poole at a very badly advertised
gig, where about forty people turned up. [1]

They moved the show to a small studio and the bloke was superb. Came on
with a guitar player and ran through loads of stuff of his own and some
    covers.

We were hanging about afterwards finishing our drinks when he came back
through the room, and he chatted with SO & myself for about fifteen
minutes during which time he tried to convince me it was genetic
engineering which had made him over six feet tall and one foot wide and
still produce the amazing bass vocals he did.

[1] We only found out about it because we had gone in to book tickets
for something else and spotted a small flyer.

The very same, at the Rock & Blues a few years ago. He's performed with
them quite a few times, apparently.

YTC#1 was there too, and could probably have made a better job of it.
