Well I never knew that! :)[/QUOTE]

    Perhaps that's the wrong word - I'm not sure she's a 'Practice
Manager' as the NHS defines it, more administrator, receptionist,
surgery assistant, general dogsbody, but now qualified to dispense,
given that the nearest pharmacy is 30 miles away on the other end of
the island. Apparently the dispensing practice is quite a common model
    oop north in the wilds.
No, I wound;t have known where to start. It's possible my sister
followed it up, but this was the same time I was in, and just out of,
hospital having my own metalwork removed, so I wasn't really wanting
    to get involved.
Yeah, I realise that, and I hope he made the fuss that we were telling
him he should. I've not spoken to him for a couple of months, but I
gather he's making good progress now, which is the main thing.
    Good advice.

St John Smith took all the glory by becoming a martyr, to use a religious
    analogy.

I didn't rate Kinnock as an orator. He was trying too hard to be like those
from previous generations. He made one or two good speeches but when
    unscripted he was often incoherent.

He made Labour unelectable. The country was never going to vote in a Welsh
ginger..... ever! and he was still too left leaning.

I honestly wasn't sure, as I've not read anything of them.

What, you would have left the islanders to the Argentine Dictatorship? I
don't believe that for a minute. I'm no war monger either but just
occasionally action has to be taken.

Would you have left Yugoslavia under the Serbs or Afghanistan under the
    Taliban as well?

The whole expedition was done VERY badly but it did throw them out and it
undermined the Junta and probably helped hasten its end, to the benefit of
al those Welsh émigrés...... hmm now I come to think of it!

I didn't deny or argue that. He rolled the carpet out for Blair. I doubt he
did it consciously though, I doubt he liked or approved of Blair or
    supported what came next.

    I'm sorry but I can't ;o)

Which bit do you disagree with?
That the UK would never vote for a Welsh Ginger?
That he was percieved by the middle classes as too left wing to get elected
in the Britain *of that day*?
    I stand on both.

I also believe that Spitting Image parody did them untold damage in
    electibility terms.

probably not. the junta was very unpopular anyway, and the whole thing
could probably have been resolved by economic and external political
    pressure within a few months.
it was on the way out anyway.

on the other hand, westland shares were looking very healthy. go british
    industry!

Whew, that's harsh!! particularly the former though the latter probably had
    the worst of it.

Ahhh the effects of time, and so much has passed. He did indeed publically
support Blair into office I recall.
I still think he has been biting his tongue until it bled since Blair
    started to roll though.

really? so by not attempting to topple the governments of sudan, zimbabwe,
and china by military means we must be completely evil, then?

and got a nice nose in the trough job for his troubles...and a peerage

For someone who tried to change the system, he ultimately sold out to it.

I don't believe you would seriously argue, from what I've been told of you,
that because you can't help everyone you don't help anyone.

Oh didn't he just though! The class struggle was abandoned hastily by more
    than a few of them.
They fitted his wife up with a nice little earner too.
