Wanting to learn to weld

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Richard Ricciardi, Apr 27, 2004.

  1. Hi Everyone,
    My plan is to eventually build a custom motorcycle. I have always been
    fascinated with the art of welding and think this would be a good
    thing to learn prior to the build, just in case I will need it for
    moving tabs or brackets. I have never welded anything before but have
    always wanted to learn. Can anyone suggest a brand/type of welder I
    could look for? Sorry for the vague type of question but I guess I
    have to start somewhere. Thanks Rich.

    Good on ya! Try the sci.engr.joining.welding newsgroup. Buncha helpful
    people there. Also <http://www.metalworking.com/> and
    <http://www.weldingfaq.com/index.asp>

    I'm sure there are many more if you poke around in Google.

    Hi Everyone,
    Without knowing your budget it's tough to answer.

    I bought and learned on a Miller Econotig (approx $1300). It's a nice
    machine and comes with a video to help you get started. Post back with
    a price range and people will be able to help you figure something
    out.
