    Hi List (my 1st post)

My wife and her friend have recently qualified for their open bike
license (life will now be very tough with a surf on Saturday and a
ride on Sunday as opposed to the current deal of one or the other per
weekend!). The fun of now finding a suitable bike has started with
daily searches through bikepoint, autotrader and bikesales. I thought
that I would try the list to see if there are any other options.

Given this will be their 1st bike we are looking for bikes along the
lines of (in no order or preference):
    Suzuki GS500
    Kawasaki ER5
    Kawasaki Zephry (ZR 550)
    Honda Hornet 600 (wishlist)
    Bandit 600 (wishlist)
other suitable bikes (250cc bikes are not on the list as we want to
keep these bikes for a couple of years and plan on some longer trips,
using the NSW LAM list as a reference, faired bikes are fine as well)

The budget is a about a max of $4,500. If you have or know of a bike
for sale that may be suitable please email me at
with "Bike for sale" in the subject/heading field. We basically want
a bike that is reliable and mechanically looked after - some scratches
    etc are fine)

Also if there are things we should look out for in the above bike
models please let us know either off or on list.

    Thanks in advance,
    Conrad

Whoops sorry; I didn't read the "open licence" bit!

Some good news, today we found a '96 GS500E in fair condition so V is
all smiles and can't wait for the weekend. Just have to find a
suitable one for her friend now.

    Cheers
