Wanted: marque freaks to classify models of bike

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Feb 6, 2006.

  1. As part of the MCC's drive to get useful stats out of the RTA, we are
looking for people willing to have a go at classifying models of bike
as noted in the RTA lists into types.

Cruiser, scooter, trail,mx, sportbike, sport tourer, tourer, commuter,
    and so on.

Sure, there will be differences of opinion about exact
classifications, but that's not a real problem.

Volunteers please email me at saying what marque you
feel confident with. Some we have mostly covered, some not covered at
all. I'll send you your choice of a spreadsheet or text file of model
designations and you fill in the categories of the ones you know.

If you know it's a dirt bike but not if it's Ag, trail, MX, for
example, that's OK - just mark it as offroad

This list is to help the MCC lobby for training and road safety
initiatives for classes of bike and rider, and possibly to help with
    ammunition for changing greenslip classes.

I'm sorry, I don't think they've made any motorcycles worthy of the
name since the deal with Spagthorpe fell through.

  4. They put sidecars on many bikes though. Swallow Sidecars was what evolved
    into Jaguar.

    No wonder!
She's much more likely to swallow if you've got a Jag......

Interestingly. It was SS jaguar before the war. and just Jaguar
    after it.

I guess that's why Spitz Sidecars went out of business...

Swallow Sidecars became SS, Jaguar was a model name. After the war the
SS was dropped for obvious reasons.
