As per the title line, friend needs a restrictor kit for her 2002 "E"
model. Got one you want to sell??

It's not the kit itself that's the important bit. It's the documentation and
specifically the forms the dealer must sign and submit to FI International.

"NOTE: Restrictor kits can only be fitted by an approved and qualified
dealer. Fitting also registers the restriction into the FI International
master database and this will generate a certificate that you will receive
    as proof of restriction"

    See here:

Thanks, it's a bit of a grey area. She will get a receipt and letter
from a vat reg ltd company it's been supplied and fitted, that's about
all plod ever needs. It will in fact be fitted. The holes might be a tad
    larger mind!

FI is bit of a money making scam IMHO

  4. Utter shite. The law says your bike must be under 33bhp. It doesn't ask
or care how you achieve that. It doesn't mention restrictor kits at all
and it sure as hell doesn't grant F1 International a monopoly to sell
    them.

I looked into this in detail with the Police & DVLA and ended up self
fitting a Yamaha OE kit to a mate's bike.

  5. The law is crystal clear.

If an A2 (?) license you must ride bikes under 33bhp.

How you do it is up to you.

The only bit of law that *isn't* clear is if the 33bhp is measured at
    the crank or the wheel.

In the event that Plod suspect you may be driving not in accordance
with you license you are sent off to an MOT station to show otherwise.

The grey is introduced by F1 international who lie, and bike shops who
go along with it because it allows them to sell washes for £250.

Both F1 and bike shops fold when you ask them what legislation requires
    a certificate.............

After investigating this in detail I fitted an OE yamaha 33bhp kit to a
    mates bike.

You *do* need to ask your insurer what they require, of course.

Are you suggesting that Suzuki may make their own GS500 kit??

  7. Dunno. Yamaha do for the Divvy 600 so maybe Suzuki do as well?

    Have you tried Ebay?

Hey!! it's official. FI International are a bunch of scamming cunts.
Suzuki do a pair of modified slides, they do not restrict performance at
lower revs (unlike the washers which **** up airflow) for £70.

Thanks DD, we live and learn.

  9. Lowest of the low. Preying on younger, newer bikers who can least
afford to be scammed. The sooner trading standards shut them down the
    better.
    Np!

I agree and this is why I said "It's not the kit itself that's the important
    bit. It's the documentation"

I don't think a letter from a VAT comp will be acceptable.

    Total bollocks.
The biggest load of crap I've read this week.
Molly, please get your facts right before posting such utter shite.

  13. Probably has an interest in F1 International trying to sucker a few
    shillings out of newbies.

This precisely what happened when I did it for my son. They issued a
certificate within a week or two.

The quotation is taken from FI's website.

I do admit this was some time ago and things may have changed. Perhaps you
might care to let us know how it works now.
