Wanted: a couple of small BMW parts

Discussion in 'Bay Area Bikers' started by Robert Schenker, Apr 19, 2004.

  1. On the San Rafael bridge a couple of days ago, while bouncing over one
of the numerous steel plates crossing the pavement, my speedometer lens
fell off along with the ring that holds it in place and its rubber lens
shade. (the bike is a 1981 R100x.) Turns out you can't buy these
parts--you have to buy the whole plastic piece that houses all the
instruments. It costs $113. So, does anyone have a dead instrument pod
    they don't need?

    thanks,

Lacking finding it again, maybe that VDO speedometer repairman in San Jose
(?) has the parts. You know, the guy who calibrates speedometers and
advertises in the BMW MOA rag.

  4. Thanks--been in touch with them. Haven't heard back as to whether they
will sell any parts--they do have them though.

  5. Thanks to all. I did get a broken pod from Palo Alto Speedometer. Great
    place.
