Wanted - 33bhp bike

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Dawn, Dec 12, 2010.

  1. In my experience, any bike that exists/existed in full power form, and i
    then restricted, is just nasty to ride. Cf; loads of 12bhp 125s and
    certainly the ER5 I rode once.

    Note: there's a difference between "restricted" and "detuned" - cf
    various nakeds and tourers derived from full-on sports bikes.

  5. **** me, I've done more miles than that on the XJ6 in the last 2 months.

    Any old bag of shit can be reliable when it's not required to do
    anything.

    My ex had a GS500 and it was the most awful bike I'd ever ridden and
    turned out to be nothing but trouble and he was glad when it got stolen;
    and if it was the last bike available in the world I would use the bus.

    My lad bought (and still owns) a Honda NC30 (VFR 400). It's an oldie
    (G Reg) but the build quality seems really good, so it's lasted well.
    We did restrict it at first, and to be honest it wasn't too bad at all,
    but he removed them after about 6 months to release it's full power.
    I'd recommend one as a first proper bike, restricted or otherwise, but
    reckon you'll need to budget closer to £1500 for anything half decent.

    My mate had a VTR 250 import for a while, it was cheap enough & he liked it.
