If you share interest on becoming a Harley Davidson dealer, the first
thing you should know is that Harley Davidson is open for dealership.
Having said that, the next question that should be answered is: "How?"

There are two possible ways where you can acquire for dealership.

First, is the sellout of the existing dealership. Here, Harley-
Davidson has a list of existing dealership locations ready for sale.
If you match the requirements on this site, you can be contacted for
an interview. But first you have to submit an application. Harley-
Davidson can disclose the list of dealerships that are to be sold-out
once you have submitted your perspective dealer application. It does
not end here though. The company has to review your application, your
business experience, your financial strength, and your.....reading

I've no intention of clicking on the link but I'd be betting there will
be a nasty virus waiting at it. Gotta wonder though - who could possibly
be thick enough to think Hogly would be advertising for dealers from a
    dodgy gmaail address ?

It's been my experience that the more you look like a generic harley
rider the better the service is in HD shops.

You can get away with a plain black T-Shirt and blue jeans though :)

I'm not surprised the majority of buyers of NEW (as opposed to 2nd
hand) HD's are over 50 middle class white collar or successful self
    employed tradies.

If I was a sales droid in a big city HD dealership, I'd talk to the
guy in a suit rather than the guy in jeans with tatts - the latter is
    probably there for spare parts...

There are no spare parts on a HD.

    They all vibrated off ?

But, but, only if they're held in stock. Once you buy them, they are
    unlikely to remain 'spare'.

<looks around the garage at the boxes full of guzzibits>

    Eh?

    Zebee
    - who now has boxes of ducatibits too, having just bought most of
another 450 motor. I wonder if that guy got his $11k for the
    magwheeled 450?

Let me introduce you to Leon and his collection of harleybits then.

    Zebee
    - who hasn't seen so many flathead parts since the last visit to the
    fishmarket back door...

True, true, but then you have a spare (broken) part you've taken
    off... :)

Besides, they're still spare parts while they are in the spares
    warehouse...

    JL
(can we get down to any more pointless semantics than this ? Have we
    hit bottom yet ?)

Yah this is no doubt true when one looks at overall sales!
Whereas if you walk into a country HD dealership in a suit they'd laugh
    at you :)

The Buell owner's manual even specifies which grade of Loctite to use on
    which bolt.

Anyone who has services done at frasers deserves the problems , they
wont touch mine anyway since the motor was rebuilt .

I just grab the 1 litre blue and apply liberally , the recent mods
actually helps so maybe it doesn't need it ( bullshite)

Looking for flathead parts of course.

    Zebee
