Do u think it is because the price of gas is higher than some periods of the
    past?

Or because the Exxon made some money?

I have given up trying to interpret BJay's cornpone. It's not worth
    the effort.

But if folks think a massive tax on oil companies is the answer,
remember corporations do not pay tax, consumers do. Any tax levied at
the corporate level will be instantly and immediately felt at the
    retail level.

Further, just think of what George Bush might do with a sudden revenue
windfall equal, say to $1.00 for each gallon of gasoline sold in the
US. Hell he'd have enough money to invade Iran!

I wouldn't be hoping Hillary, if she gets into office will be any
better. The first time some tin pot dictator tries to flex his
international muscles Hillary will have to prove she is tougher than
both Bush's combined. She is going to need that buck per gallon.

Now if you are thinking of a massive tax married to some form of price
controls, that flushing sound you hear would be the sound of US
dollars being flushed out of your country and ending up in the global
economy. A lot of it would end up in Alberta. :)

Energy costs money. Either reduce your consumption or get used to
    paying more.

And what specific programs enacted by the Clintons when they were co-
presidents made things "much better" and when did President Bush
    repeal or rescind them?

I don't recall their program to cap oil company profits or their
program to return excess profits to the poor or their program to have
the price of oil set by the government at the behest of water cooler
    whiners.

I can't remember their efforts to reduce or eliminate no-money-down
mortgages, adjustable rate mortgages, mortgage repackaging and
    reselling.

I recall a recession during their eight years in office, and it
appears that we now have a minor recession here during the last year
of Bush's eight years in office.

I don't see that things were "much better" when Bill and Hillary ran
    the country.

So, you can't name one single thing that the Clintons did when they
were in the presidency that made things much better.

    There's a surprise.

    ================================
=====Well Calgary, let me say it a little more simple just for you: I
said what I said to your Buddy Tim, referring to ''what the Americans
are all talking about, on a daily basis, around this Nation, not in
    ''your nation''

And what are they talking about???:.(you ....''High Gas Prices''!.

Your buddy Tim wants to talk about other companies making huge
profits.''He wants to try to compare other companies profits, with Oil
Companies profits. But American are not concerned with any of that.

I said in my original post, that Exxon seems to be making more money
than ever , and doing it by raising gas prices, and doing it during a
    recession.

To most Americans, not Canadians, it is the high price of gas, not
groceries, not clothes, not renting movies, they are concerned with high
prices at the gas pump! This is where they feel it is not fair, and
that the government should step in some way or another.

Whether that is possibel or not, doesnt keep most Americans from
    complaining..

We Americans have always thought that the Bushes, and the Cheneys are
part of the problem, since theyve made a lotta money in Oil, and since
they started a war in Iraq.

So, they should've come up with a solution.

Now, Calgary, it is possible that we'll have John Boring MeCain in the
white house ''to continue a third term'' for GWBush...... MrjayT=

Hey Tim2Morrow....The Clintons left office with a money surplus built
up, didnt they?Seems 'they did pretty' good. on the other hand...the
republican administration, has spent more money, unlike any
conservative administration, I can recall in history.

Thnks to the current administration,I believe the USA, at this time owes
a few hundred trillion dollars. How much does the war cost a month,
    something like 10 million..

Jerry responds to Calgary earlier: ''Some of you fellas seem to have
trouble telling what is necessary for life and Big Macs. As conservative
as I am, I would even consider nationalizing the greedy bastards if they
don't pull back. But could care less about Big Macs, even if they were
priced 100 dollars apiece. They aint necessary.

    ---2Morrow says this to Jerry--
Just wake me up when the other motherfucking taxpayers are ready to pay
my fucking mortgage. Believe me, that *is* necessary. (OleTim2Morrow)

We Americans? Check ur pockets for rat turds.
Warren Buffett made some money too, and Mr. Hunt, oh don't forget the Bass

Now that you are in your twilight years and have made your money, do you

No. Where do you get this stuff from, BJay? When the Clintons left
office the first time, the federal deficit was 5.6 trillion dollars.
When they took office, the federal deficit was 4 trillion dollars.
The deficit went up $1.63 trillion dollars on their watch, a 25%
increase. The federal deficit went up EVERY year the Clintons were
    in office:

Total Federal debt during the First Clinton era:

    1992 4,001.8
    1993 4,351.0
    1994 4,643.3
    1995 4,920.6
    1996 5,181.5
    1997 5,369.2
    1998 5,478.2
    1999 5,605.5
    2000 5,628.7
