wallyworld air pumps

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Rob Kleinschmidt, Jun 4, 2004.

  1. Has anybody tried cutting down one of those cheapo walmart
air pumps to make it easier to pack on a bike ?

I picked one up the other day and opened it up, but haven't
    yet performed surgery on it.

Any good thoughts on making the pump more compact or finding
a good way to carry it would be appreciated. I've also got to
reconcile the cigarette lighter plug with my BMW accessory
    socket.

    Thanks for any thoughts

I think Steve R. did a chop job on an air pump.
Pretty straight forward if I remember rightly.

You can always just install a cigarette lighter socket in a hidden spot or
attach alligator clips to the wires on the pump so it can direct feed from
the battery or any other high current wire.

This has been done with the inexpensive "Campbell Hasfield" compressors. I
am not sure of the design of other compressors.

With CH you revove the case and use a hacksaw/dremmel tool to cut the shaft
at the fan end. This leaves just the pump/guage/hose/cord assembly.
