You've rode with a couple of these long distance riders too.....remember
that midnight ride we went on? Remember the Colter's BBQ lunch? Who do you
think those people were? Just because they were riding with some clowns that
night who wanted to drag along, doesn't mean some of them couldn't ride.

I had you rubbing elbows and riding with some of the top long distance
riders to come along. You didn't have to read about them in some counterfeit
news rag....you talked a long time with them.

    X-No-archive: yes

I too would be interested in hearing where he's met her, ridden with
    her, etc.

I'd ask her about it but I suspect the event would have been
    singularly unmemorable for her.

cool. when did you meet her ?[/QUOTE]

I've met her on rides. You know, those little things you don't ever do.

But I've also ran into her in Plano and talked a little with her there.
She's a bit rough looking slender build and wears some funny looking leather
pants that are way too big for her, but she's a nice woman. When I was first
introduced to her, I thought someone was mispronouncing her name and I
finally stopped the conversation to ask her specifically. With an unusual
name like hers, it's easy to remember.
I believe Malcolm Forbes would be 70+ when he was last riding and could ride
most riders into the ground....but it doesn't really matter now, does it?

You don't know her and wouldn't be able to get her. You're just trying to
improve your ego and hoped no one would say "go get her".

Yeah, you'd have to have her remember meeting you first.

Interesting how well you know her and the only thing offered up is a recent
write up of her with an internet rag. Would that be a "google search" thing?

  5. Like a ride when ? Last year, two years ago, three years ago ?

Most recently I had lunch with her and a few other friends December 11
at Rosies' Tamale house in Austin.

  6. Really.

This must have been only recently that you met her for the first time.

  7. You apparently haven't looked at the Butt Lite 3 rally information and
rally pictures on the Team Strange website and my website. That's from
2 or 3 years ago, not to mention events prior to that and since then.
Like I said in another post, we saw each other most recently December 11
    in Austin.

Amen to that. I regret not being able to stay long in any of the places I've
ridden last year (except Indiana, Iowa, and perhaps Illinois).

  9. that's the difference between touring for fun and doing a ride like the
    ABCs or a 48+/10.

Besides, it's the journey and not just the destination.

Yeah, not that long ago, he was all pumped up about a woman riding 48 states
    in 10 days...now it's the journey?

  15. you don't consider a 48+/10 ride a journey ?

    OK...

Nope, I consider it the quickest path down a slab to receive a destination.

At the rate those riders ride, they're lucky to see the sights at a gas
stop, let alone see what any of the scenery looks like around them.

  17. <>Nah, when riding those rides they skip across those states in a matter
of minutes. They ride the borders of the states to make it though. It's
not like they're actually visiting the states, just crossing the state
lines. Ron Ayres was the first I've heard of that did that. He tried to
do it the quickest and ended up having a couple chase vehicles and a
crew to revive him at the check stops. The poor guy was a basket case
when he finally did get the bike stopped. I remember when he blasted
through Texas (right in your backyard....from Arkansas into Texas and
back out) on that ride, he looked like a sheet covering a sack of bones.
To hear it, it sounds really impressive....but when you see the map it's
not the same. I'm not taking away from anyone who does it, but it's not
like they're doing any sight seeing or could even tell anyone what the
state looks like. You ask them what Ohio or Utah looks like and they'll
say "concrete with a shoulder". That sort of thing isn't my idea of
enjoyment. When I ride, I at least want to be able to know what I'm
    seeing.

Thanks Brian, that explains that type of competition, what ever ya call
it. BUT, I still say, even ''a Zig Zag'' type ride like that, still
encounters having to log up to some 1000 mile dayz, don't it.? If a
Rider starts anywhere in the USA, on this type of ride, the rider is
basically riding the width (east and west) , the length (north & south)
of which adds up to 6000 miles. not to mention, the ''Zig/Zaging'' the
enterior of our great country, even riding the corners of most
    states..(another 2,000 miles).(then do it in less than 10 days)..well,
anyway it is incredible, that a woman did it, and n' old woman did
    it.......wow-o-wee.....
Like you Brian, that is a ride, that quite frankly does not sound ''any
    fun to me''!
Especially a SOLO! I deem that as being boring.
