It just doesn't get any better, does it?

So I finally got the call from the dealer that the (warranty) heat
shield for the Hyo's exhaust pipe had arrived and I could trundle down
    to get it put on.

That was Friday. It was pissing down rain. The Hyo does not leave
the garage when it rains. So we waited, and yesterday the conditions
were favourable for a sojourn down to the plains to visit the dealer.

The dealer said "There were (three) silicone grommets to go over the
fitting lugs. Do you have them with you?"

    I said "Oops."

Six months ago, when this saga began, I had removed the grommets (so
that they would not fall off and get lost) and put thme in a safe
place in the garage. Now I can't for the world of me rmember where
    that safe place is. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

I am now ordering three silicone grmmets. They should be here in six
    months time...

As Michael Smith said "Waiting is..."

  2. OOOOOHH YEA!! The old "Safe place caper".

Small consolation but you are not alone !!!

All around the world there must be tons of gear in such safe storage,
if a bloke could find it there would be millions of squids in it !!

    Oh yes.
A life-long affliction that does not get better with advancing years
or brain surgery. Ah well, I often console myself with: "It'll turn up
some time." with varying degrees of un success :)

Coupla years ago I ran out of two-smoke oil for the chainsaw/whipper
snipper/leaf blower, etc. I was sure I had bought another four litre
container but it could not be found in two hours of fruitless
searching, so I put off the cutting job. The next week I went into
town and bought another four litres from the Stihl shop. Got home,
opened it, mixed up five litres of two-smoke fuel and put the oil
container on the shelf, right next to the unopened one I had spent two
hours looking for. I've now just started using that one.

    The waiting is over !!!

    The grommets have arrived!!!

I picked them up today, and now the Hyosung is once again "fully
    dressed".

    Amazing !!!

Hmm, this conjures up a picture of a bunch of beer-bellied aging
surfers, sitting around a surf club, drinking beer, and one of them
    shouts.......
