My dad didn't believe that my Gixer had something like 160bhp and sub 3
second 0-60 times until I passed his Toyota Corolla 1.6 with my front
wheel a little way off the ground at over 90mph and accelerating fast.
Later he asked how fast it actually was, I told him it was restricted to
186mph - he struggles to comprehend how you can physically stay on the
bike with acceleration like that and at those speeds.

You're a little bit older than that now.

I only got my old man on the back of the Bandit a few years ago.He was
grinning like a loon when we got back and I never went over 60mph.

My dad hates bikes, you simply wouldn't have got him on one even when he
was fit enough, and he ain't that any more.

I'm the only person in my family who rides bikes. My Dad had one when he
was 17 but got my Mum up the duff, they got married etc etc and he
always said he never wanted to go on it but I knew different. I really
did want to wind it WFO but if I'd done that, he'd never have another go
ever again. I'll leave it until I move and I've got a 200mph rocket.

I bought my sister's RD400 off her, and she'd bought it from her husband
to be a couple of years before that. A few years later I owned a Gixer
750L and took my then bruv-in-law out on the back of that, he shit
himself because I went 85mph on an A road overtaking much slower moving
traffic. I then found out that before I'd bought the RD he or she had
    never taken it above 80.

I don't mind being a pillion, but I do get the feeling we're going a lot
faster than we actually are, which is probably why newbies get scared so
    easily.

No, thast's just the next logical phase. It should stay there for
several weeks, by which time its ammunition value will have
    drastically grown.

    You'll learn.

it'll likely move tomorrow when the daft injured [1] fool comes home
and wants to use the footstool for his laptop.

it'll then end up on the floor or sofa and i'll take it upstairs when
I do some cleaning this weekend.
that i'm a soft fool? I already know that one.

[1] apparently the machine "grabbed" the brush he was using, then
grabbed his glove, chomped that, followed by his hand. cuts cross his
knuckles and maybe a broken finger.

Oh poor little lamb. Give him a big hug from me.

That should make sure he never does it again.
