It really is the era of the specialist.

When I were a boy we were expected to be well-rounded folk with all manner
of bad habits and tendencies. Nowadays you have to pick a shortcoming,
which seems to me to be a recipe for seriously curtailed fucking-about.

Have a mate paying child support. His ex is allowed to have an income up to
$36,000 before his payments will be affected. He currently has to pay 26% of
his Gross Wages for 2 kids.

 

It gets better... if you live at a distance from your children, they will not
consider reducing your child support payments unless the cost of contact
exceeds 5% of your gross income. On a wage of $36,000 that means you pay
$9300 to the custodial parent in CS payments, you pay all of the income tax on
that money which they receive tax free, and in addition you can spend another
$1,800 of after tax income on airfares/accomodation during contact visits
before the CSA will even consider giving you a discount on your payments.
That works out to about $15-16K of your pretax income per year accounted
for... and they wonder why so many people try so hard to avoid payments.
