VTR1000F - Forks

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Inspector Gadget, Jul 13, 2005.

  1. I recently bought my second VTR, having been off bikes for the last 7 years
while in Oz, and I was told by Peter Stevens that the forks had been
reworked since I bought my first one in 97.
Well, that was clearly a load of absolute bollocks, because they are just
as bad as always, being severely undersprung and overdamped.

Has anyone around Melbourne had their forks reworked? If so, where did you
get them done, and how much did it cost? In the UK it was about 250quid
($600) for new springs, shims and oil.

Alternatively, does anyone have any of those lovely VTR SP2 front ends
going cheap so that I can stick them on my bike? :)

    Cheers,
    Gadget

  3. You must have gone to the same Peter Stevens as Goaty then - "reworked"
is code for "we left all the oil out"...

I do love JUST how off topic these conversations get. Is a sign of much fun
    being had I think.

(and I think Goaty would be most offended at being called a
Victorian.... You can take the boy out of Tasmania, but you can't take
the Tasmanian out of the boy....)
