VS800 red flags?

My wife has decided to replace her Kawi Concours with a '96 Intruder 800.
Once we got it home, the very first thing it did was to piss coolant all
over the garage floor. One water pump housing seal, on order....

This bike uses one of the frame tubes as a conduit to move coolant from the
radiator to the engine. This makes me wonder about corrosion in that frame
tube. Is this an unfounded fear?

[Insert mini-rant about water cooling here...heavy, complicated, more stuff
to maintain, more crap to break, etc....]

Any other "gotcha" items on an Intruder that I should watch for?

    Yes.
I have two VF400Fs both 26 year old. Part of the frame is coolant
    tube.
    No problem whatsoever.
    Don't know that.

  3. The VF750s and VF1000s used it, as well. As you say, absolutely nothing
    to worry about.
