Can anyone tell me the order and orientation of the two rings that live in
the back of the clutch pack of a 94 VS800 Intruder? I looked up a parts
diagram on-line and it appears that the last person in this motor may have
put these in in the wrong order. The diagram I found shows that the rear
most ring is called a wave washer. One of the washers is conical in shape
(spring) the other is flat (washer). mine were installed flat washer first
    conical ring second.
How are these things supposed to be installed??
    Thanks in advance

That part is right, according to the parts diagram on
    www.partsfish.com.
In my opinion, the online parts diagram may be wrong in another way,
    though

It shows the # 5 hub with the first part going on it being the # 6
seat, then the # 9 wave washer.

That part makes sense, if the next part you install is one of the STEEL
    plates.

But the drawing shows that a FIBER friction plate is the next part.
    That looks WRONG.

The fiber friction plate would rotate in relation to the wave washer
anytime the clutch slipped or was intentionally disengaged. The fiber
plate would wear a groove in itself, or the wave washer would have to
    rotate with it.

So, the next part installed after the wave washer would logically be a
STEEL plate. That's how my GS-1100 clutch is stacked. Spring seat, wave
    washer, steel plate.

The last plate in the stack is a fiber plate.

    Thanks CK.
Your concern over the stacking order is a good one. However, the order you
are seeing in your diagram is correct. The washer and the spring reside
"within" the inner diameter of that fiber plate. They will not contact the
    friction surfaces.
My concern is with how the spring (Wave Washer) is installed. It is shaped
like a pie pan with no bottom, or a very very shallow funnell. (this is
difficult to explain) cross section of a cone, a bearing race, etc..
Can you tell from the drawing you are looking at which way it is oriented?
My drawing is not that detailed.

Thanks man, I appreciate your help

No, I am looking at the Suzuki parts fiche on www.partsfish.com and it
doesn't get into the orientation of the spring washer. Neither does my
    Clymer repair manual for the
    GS-1100.

In fact, the average GS-1100 owner probably never removes the washer
and seat when re-packing the clutch. There is a spring steel wire
"stopper" holding the steel plate over the spring and seat.

Your Intruder's clutch doesn't use the wire stopper.
