VS Day (Victory over Sparkplug)...

  1. It is out!

Turned a Snap On square extractor into a Snap-Off square extractor.

Ended up taking the head off (scary) and drifting the snapped
extractor out and then drilled the fucker to within 0.25mm of the
threads with an £8 drill mounted on a £6 pillar. (Using a £45 cobalt
    drillbit set).

Then matie started tidying the top end of the remaining metal with
some, er, needlenose pliers, and the thing started turning out leaving
a perfectly intact inside thread! Result!

The motor's all back together with lovely new plugs, ready for
    refitting tomorrow...

Good work matey. Nice when it all comes together. Could have been much, much
    worse (££££)

  3. Well I think the worst case scenario was going to be spending £50 or
summat getting a *proper* workshop to drill and re-tap it...

Now the worst bit is telling my supervisor that I broke his extractor.
However, being Snap-On, I think they have a lifetime guarantee.
Wouldn't be surprised if it didn't apply to things like extractors...

And put some anti-seize compound on the thread of the plugs before you put
    them in.

I was wondering how you were getting on :)

Coppaslip isn't anti-seize compound though. It's better than **** all, but
PROPER anti-seize is better, probably because that's what it's designed for.
