Looking at the forecast for Sunday and it looks like a very good day to
break out the leathers, mount and ride to at least one of the VA hospitals
in the area.. Should be a perfect day .. Anybody want to hook up and ride
with me for a while... Lot's of benefits and should be rewarding.. There is
usually good food available and the company couldn't get any better... See
    ya'..

My hats off to you MR. Walker,
My parents both whom are vets spend a lot of time at the Waco hospital doing
volunteer work, I have been there a few times with them.
Anyone that will spend their day off doing anything for our VETS gets my
    respect.

Many thanks, Richard.. One friend of mine, young fellow from Ft.Worth made a
comment to me after the visit to Waco a couple months back.. I had noticed
he appeared to be uncomfortable while we mingled with the patients.. When I
asked him .. he told me.. "These are the real heroes of our past and our
time.. We owe them so much, that we can never repay.. It is difficult for me
to be in their debt and so helpless to do more." I thought his comment was
profound and thoughtful.. Those guys sure admire motorcycles and bikers...

When are you heading out? A tad nippy out there right now, but I
might be up for a ride / visit here in a little bit.

I was going to do the toy run up in Decatur, but didn't' feel like
freezing my ass off for a 90-mile slab up the highway to get there.

Also some folks are doing the Cranfill's Gap run today....remember Jim
and Wyatt? I'll probably take a pass on that one, myself, though.

That's sad to hear. I watched the VA hospital in Millington begin pulled
apart after BRAC closed the training center (and moved it to Florida). Lots
of people retired there to be near the hospital. The hospital stopped seeing
dependents before I got out of the service. It amazes me that the government
is willing to piss on veterans so quickly.

    sorry to rant.

How often do you ride out there?

I am up in Spring and would be more than happy to ride with you one of these
    afternoons.

You are my guest on the "rant".. I do that on here, quite often... LOL
I visit a VA hospital somewhere in the state, at least once a month..
Earlier in the year, I was in Long Beach visiting a friend who was in the VA
hospital there.. I was in Waco a couple of months ago to protest the closing
of that facility.. I heard estimates that something like 2000 motorcycles
    rode that day..
You would be welcome and well received.. I just got back from the VA
hospital in Dallas.. I showed up out there about ten this morning and had
lunch with a bunch of the guys..

Good to see you posting again, Charles.. Been missing you.. I guess the "new
dad" thing is full time.. I must admit when I first read your post, I almost
fired up.. Had to think about it a little bit.. Good point, Charles.. Thanks
    for the input..
