Am I correct in thinking that if a Frame number is not fully visible it will
now not pass an MOT? This could pose me a bit of a problem. MY PX200 that
I am finishing up restoring to sell had a rather worn out number on the
chassis. Now that it has been resprayed it has basically disappeared under
the paint. How do I sort this? Teeps? (I have no idea of the correct
    spelling of teeps).

That's my point. Even before it was painted half the number was just about
gone and so faint as to be unreadable. I have no idea why. Italian
    craftsmanship I think.

  3. You need a chassis number for an MoT, yes. Just scrape the paint off it.

    In
Can you get an plate made up with the number on it? My K has such a plate,
attached with pop rivets, on the right frame member under the sidepanel,
similar to a car chassis number plate.

Or get yourself some of these:

Very popular in the past for some strange reason, when number plates
    were easily transferred.

Not necessarily. I have a computerised MOT from last year with "Not
    Found" for the VIN.

Same problem as the OP - over painted and worn out - the tester would
have been happy to take it off the V5 but I didn't have that either.

  10. I stand corrected.

Oddly, I've seen a couple of ShiteOldSmallHondas that were never given
frame numbers by the factory, and I have a vague feeling that right up
until the 1970s or thereabouts Harley didn't stamp their frames either.

    <Googles>

Yup, no frame numbers before 1970

happily, sounding much like they were saying :

No frame number on that, either. Yet the older 2200 does have.

But ffs, make sure before you smack the punch, that you're PERFECTLY in
position and make doubly sure you only hit it once. Hitting it twice is piss
easy and a double strike makes things look decidedly dodgy.
