I'm about to give the VFR a quick once-over as it's my last day off
    before the French trip.

I've done about 6k miles on it (maybe a bit more) since the last oil
change (Honda's schedule has changes every 8k miles) and I know I need
10/40 oil...... is it worth spending the extra cash on a fully synthetic
bike oil, or should I just do my usual and stick 10/40 semi-synth car
    oil in it?

    Cheers,

Halfords own brand semi-synth MOTORCYCLE oil is OK. Or anything with
that standard loz mentions JASO SA or something.. car oil might f*ck
    your clutch up.

I've still got 4 litres of castrol semi synth so I'm going to use
that... Maybe I'll do an oil change tonight.

I use Halfords fully synth bike oil. I'd recommend that, based on your
6k intervals[1]. Remember: "Oil is cheap but engines are expensive".

[1] Twice as frequent as my Ducati!
