the lock for my helmet is located on the side of the seat but itsright above
the exhaust so my helmet will rest on the exhaust. this sucks.

U need to take your helmet back to the shop and ask to find a bike that will
    fit proper like.

  6. So much fuss over a bloody helmet lock--I wish someone would just put a lid
    on it...

  7. If you lean the bike at 50 degrees the helmet will swing clear of the
    muffler.

It's unlikely to melt at 50 degrees anyway.
