Got out for about 30 miles today, took nearly an hour though as I was
winding my way around the Durham moors (and got a bit lost).

Fucking nice machine - was there an engine in it? It's so smooth I just
had no idea what kind of revs it was at, even down at 1500rpm in the
    built up areas. Nice.

The only thing that spoilt the ride, and inevitably shortened it, was
the fact I need to adjust the gear lever. It took a while to get used to
the clutch action as well, I'n not ridden with a hydraulic one before.

    Anyway, piccies here:

    Hmm, nice.
It seems inordinately clean, what year/mileage then?

  3. AvMph 30? did you get out of first gear?
I can't remember what a dry clutch is like, I like wet clutches though.
Having said that the wet clutch on the (exBlaney)Bandit is a real hand
    acher.
Blimey, that's very shiny for a ukrm bike.

It's not been a ukrm bike for long. Give it a chance.

Er, it's not a dry clutch, it's a hydraulic clutch.
I can't remember what a cable clutch is like...

  7. I know.
    So the OP stated.
    That's what I said.

    Oo, nice.
I wonder why the oil filter holder isn't painted though? (Under the clutch
    slave cylinder).
I thought they were all black.

1991, 38k on the clock. It is very clean and shiny indeed.

Nope, didn't bother, these are raw from the camera.

After I've added a few scuffs you can :)
Somewhere near the wind generators at Tow Law - I think (I did say I got
    lost).

Not often, as I said the gear lever needed adjustment, so I didn't
change any more than I needed too. Not only that, most of the roads I
took (found) were 30mph anyway, and camera signs were
every-feckin-where. Not knowing the area, I didn't take any chances on a
    snapshot.
The BMW had a dry clutch, but cable operated, that was quite heavy. The
FJ is hydraulic operated, and is very light - but the bite point is a
    bit short for me.

Sorry, I thought you were saying it was a dry clutch, but you just seem to
have mentioned it in passing for some reason...
    Really? Where?

Not only is the clutch quite heavy/strong, the biting point is approx
1mm off the bars. So unless you've got it back and touching the bar, the
    bike is trying to move.

Consider that I have the VS set the opposite way, so I only had to pull
the clutch in about a quarter inch in order to shift down.

Some contrast. And not one to forget which bike you're on.

  19. <sigh> the OP was commenting that this was his first useage of a
wet/hydraulic clutch - ergo his previous experiences were dry/cable
    clutches.

    Where I said:

    Or am I being baited?

No, really. It's supposed to be black. Yours doesn't look like it's
    painted.
Maybe a bit too much clutch fluid dripping on it from above.
