I'm bloody sure I have an unused 18mm plug in the shed somewhere. Can't
remember make or type but I have a niggling vague recollection that the
    body may be dark green.

Thanks to you all. I've just had an idea, why didn't I think of it before?
I made a new inlet valve cover last year (the ones you have because the head
isn't removable) now why don't I make another with 14mm thread aperture
instead of 18mm. Must be good stuff that brain food I had for my tea. ;-)
No need for me to nick your spares, thanks again,

    Martin.

  3. dunno if you can get the right rating, but a fair number of cars have 18mm
plugs these days, for no good reason I can detect.

The only ones I've seen for a long while are the ohc Ford Cortinas but these
were taper fit. I reckon I'll be sorted by making another valve cover, no
one will notice a 14mm plug in it and I don't give a t**s as I'm not into
counting rivets but thanks all the same Austin for the suggestion.

Not all - my first autocycle came with a Lodge H1 (18mm) plug and the
insultor on that wasn't pink, it was brown... but that was because it
was mica rather than ceramic. The terminal had its own little set of
    cooling fins too.

...as long as the 18mm plug was 1/2" reach and you fitted a 14mm 3/4"
reach plug into the adaptor, 'cos the head on the adaptor takes up some
space. I've probably got one somewhere... unless it was still fitted to
my Norman autocycle one of the times that I sold it.
